Private General Practice, Corporate and Complementary Healthcare

Dr Sophia Khalique created her namesake practice ‘Dr Sophia Khalique’, after having worked for 20 years as a partner in a successful private general practice on Wimpole Street, Marylebone. She wanted to set up a surgery in the Harley Street precinct of like-minded doctors and professionals, all with comprehensive knowledge in their specialities, providing exceptional general practice and complementary healthcare.

At ‘Dr Sophia Khalique’, patients can find the following:

  • An ‘everything under one roof’ concept to include investigative facilities such as blood tests, swab tests, sexual and gynaecological health screening tests, electrocardiograms, vision, hearing and lung function testing. We carry out chain of custody urine drug screens. We offer covid antigen rapid lateral flow and laboratory-based PCR testing as well as covid antibody testing. For specific medicals such as for the OGUK certification, we offer Chester Step Testing and Bideltoid Shoulder Measurement.
  • The best concierge to specialist healthcare in London for both UK-based and overseas clients. Our experience ensures that our network of sought-after world-class specialists include current experts in every medical field. We will hold your hand and communicate directly with the specialists to make sure your care is not compromised at any stage. Our close working relationship with the specialists is evident in some of the testimonials on our website.
  • Flexible appointments times. We like to accommodate our patients and can offer early morning and evening appointments. We provide 24 hour care to those registered at the practice and can arrange visits to private patients and international visitors in London W1 area. For urgent issues or medical emergencies we will always see you on the day.
  • We pride ourselves in prevention being better than cure and promote check-ups for men and women. We can send annual reminders which gives you, a busy individual, a date to check up on all minor or major health concerns. Our health screenings are never rushed and tailor made to suit your individual needs. Additional tests such as mammograms, bone density scans, x-rays, colonoscopies, exercise electrocardiograms/echocardiograms and coronary CT scanning can be pre-booked and arranged for the same morning or afternoon. This will always be in the same Harley Street precinct with specialists that are at the top of their diagnostic fields.
  • Family focused doctors – we like to look after entire families and generations of families, so we are all trained in and enjoy paediatric medicine including child health surveillance and immunisations. We look after common ailments and more significant problems affecting neonates to children of all ages. With adolescents we are comfortable addressing all teenage concerns including puberty in girls and boys, gynaecological problems, contraception, and mental health issues which include issues with social interactions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and self- harm. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with psychotherapists and a nutritionist is particularly useful in these situations.
  • We pride ourselves on being accessible and affordable. Although unfortunately private primary healthcare is not covered by UK health insurers, we are however covered by international insurers including Bupa Global. Specialist referrals utilising your UK-based health insurance is covered once we have assessed and referred you. We can offer health screening packages for corporate organisations and are also familiar with undertaking this for television production companies.
  • We provide an environment for you to feel comfortable which makes visiting the practice enjoyable no matter how unwell you feel. Our excellent staff will help you navigate through the process. There is wheelchair access and discretion is assured at every point.
  • We always aim to relate to the people we look after and ensure that they are happy as well as healthy. Happiness extends to the service we provide and this is demonstrated in our continuous excellent 5 star reviews on Doctify and Google. We want to make sure we are not letting you down and aim to address any feedback promptly so we can improve upon our services. If things do really go wrong however, we have a formal Complaints Procedure through the Independent Doctors Forum who represent independent medical practitioners in the UK.

FAQ

Have Some Questions?

A half hour appointment will be made in order to deal with any acute problem and also to go through our patient registration process.

The office is open 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 5.30 pm Fridays and 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.

Outside office hours, the 24 hour telephone line will be picked up by an answerphone which will give instructions regarding contacting the doctor on call. The doctor will give telephone advice and where appropriate will supply prescriptions through to pharmacies. If a visit is required we utilise a deputising service for this. Under certain circumstances it may be appropriate to arrange admission to hospital directly which we can do. Please note that the above services are only available to patients who are already registered with the Practice and there is a charge for out of hours advice and services for those patients who are not monthly subscribers.

We value your feedback; good or bad, so please let us know. We carry out and publish annual patient satisfaction surveys. We are registered with The Care Quality Commission that regulates health and social care throughout England. We also have a formal complaints procedure if things have gone really badly and this can be accessed by contacting the Practice Manager.

The general answer to this is “No”. UK based Private Health Insurance companies will usually only recognise for the purposes of reimbursement, the services of individuals whom they define as Specialists.

We do not generally deal directly with insurance companies and work on the basis of individuals and corporations settling their own accounts and then claiming back directly with their respective insurance companies.

You can register at your first consultation with an acute problem or choose to register ahead of this. You will then pay for individual consultations, out of hours telephone advice and repeat prescription requests and referrals. Laboratory fees and vaccinations/drugs are additional where appropriate.
